An Interview with Sophie

First question: How did you get your name?

My first name is Sophia (but everyone calls me Sophie for short) and my middle name is Grace. When my family visited me for the first time, I was living with a nice lady who named me Grace. She had to sell me because she had a Pomeranian that was bullying me. She was heartbroken to see me leave, but my new family made my middle name Grace, because that was my original name. Here's how I got the name Sophia: When my human mommy got pregnant with her third child, she planned on naming it Sophia if it was a girl. The child turned out to be a boy, so when my family adopted me they named me Sophia instead. So yeah, I got the special name of honor. :)

When is your birthday and how old are you?

My birthday is February 1st, 2009 and I'm 6 years old.

How old were you when you got adopted?

I was only 4 months old when I was adopted.

Now, Sophie, why do you sleep all of the time?

Goodness, everyone asks me that! I don't know. My family is still trying to figure out why I'm so sleepy 24/7. But I'm honestly proud to show off my laziness.

In some of the photos of you on your blog and on Instagram, some people may have noticed that your left eye looks a little funny... what's that all about?

Well, my family went on a short weekend vacation in 2010. While they were gone, they left me in the care of our neighbor, who had a shih poo named Max. We got along well together, but the day after my family got back from vacation, my eye started looking irritated. Soon I was shivering with chills and a fever and I refused to eat anything. My family thinks that when Max and I were playing one day while they were gone, Max might've scratched my eye by accident. So they took me to the vet right away and the vet said I had a cordial ulcer in my eye. I ended up staying at the vet for a week. I had to have surgery done to help it heal, but my eye will always look irritated.

Last question: If you could invent anything, what would it be and why?

Well that's an interesting question to ask a dog... But if I could invent something, it would be a special dog house with a super cushy bed, and thousands of plush squeaky toys, and treats... Oh, and it would be nice if it was collapsible, too. It could be folded up into a backpack so my mommy could carry me everywhere! Ah, that would be nice... I know it sounds a little elaborate, but I sleep all day so I dream a lot, okay?

Foods You Should NEVER Feed Your Dog

Hello furiends! Today we're gonna post something a little bit different than what we would normally post. So we all know how our families love to let us eat dropped food from under the table, or how we sometimes get people food for alternative treats...

Well, today we're gonna talk about some foods that dogs should NEVER eat.

Here are some of the most dangerous foods to dogs:

1. Coffee, Tea. These beverages contain caffeine, which is dangerous to dogs.
2. Onions. It scared Sis when she saw this, because we've had little bitty scraps of onion before. Onions and garlic can damage red blood cells in doggies.
3. Avocado. How can a little guacamole hurt a dog? It most definitely can. Avocados contain a chemical called persin, which can upset a dog's stomach. The leaves and stems of the avocado plant are harmful as well, so if you have a little plant eater doggie in the family, keep those out of reach.
4. Alcoholic Beverages. Alcohol can have the same effects on dogs as humans, but large quantities of the stuff can set dogs into difficulty breathing, comas, or even death.
5. Ice Cream. As much as your dog would love to lap up this frozen treat on a hot summer day, it can be harmful. Like humans, most dogs are lactose intolerant. Additionally, ice cream has a lot of sugar, and too much sugar in a dog can lead to obesity.
6. Chocolate. Yes, it's very true that chocolate can be deadly to a dog. Milk chocolate isn't a huge threat because it doesn't have a lot of cocoa in it. Dark chocolate is the real concern. It can cause seizures, abnormal breathing, or even death.
7. Grapes. Grapes seem harmless, right? Wrong. Grapes, especially the skin, are deadly to dogs.
8. Macadamia Nuts. All nuts in general aren't the best for dogs, but especially macadamia nuts. Though they may seem like a harmless little snack, they're one of the most dangerous foods out there for dogs.

Pretty surprising, right? We doggies want to live a long, healthy life so please, make sure you're careful about the food scraps on the floor or what's in your little fur-ball's food.

One more thing: We recently found this amazing website called canigivemydog.com. Just enter whatever human food or medicine into the search box and it will tell you if it's edible to dogs and why! It's so cool and helpful! Click here to check it out!

We hope this helps you to protect your dog as well as possible!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SADIE!!!!

Today is a VERY special day to my VERY special sister, Sadie!!

Happy birthday Sadie, I can't believe you're two! You're finally a teen (in dog years!) which means you're gonna REALLY start annoying me, but I love you anyways. This is your first birthday with your new family, and I bet you've had the best one yet! I know from six years of experience that whenever there's a doggie birthday in this house you get showered with tons of hugs, kisses and extra cookies!! Even though you totally ruined my life when you invaded my family's household in October and have been constantly attacking me ever since, I'm glad you're my sis. Happy Birthday!! <3

Welcome to our blog! (ft. My Amazing Cuteness)

Sadie here! YES I get to do the first post! So you may know that we have an Instagram account (@sophie.and.sadie!) where we basically post what goes on in our daily lives. Sooooo we enjoyed sharing things with you so much that we've decided to create this whole blog full of all things Sophie and me! It just seemed like the right thing to do because you obviously admire my pure awesomeness and knock-out cuteness.

Sorry, I think I got a little carried away there. :)

Anywho, on our new blog sometimes we'll post what we're up to, and other times we might just post random selfies or doggie-related stuff. Sometimes I'll post, and other times Sophie might be the one posting (although I've told her I'm better at it). My point is: make sure you stop by often so you don't miss any of the fun!

Moving on from that boring little run-down, let's get to the all-about-me-and-my-cuteness part of this post.

So as you can see, I'm highly photogenic. Sis followed me around today snapping tons of pictures (seriously, what's her deal with all the pictures??), so now I basically have my own paparazzi squad. She happened to capture this during one of those rare occasions where I actually stopped moving. I know, it's so crazy to imagine me not moving, but it happens, okay? Anyways, thanks for stopping by, we really appreciate it. Come back soon for more fun!
