Well, today we're gonna talk about some foods that dogs should NEVER eat.
Here are some of the most dangerous foods to dogs:
1. Coffee, Tea. These beverages contain caffeine, which is dangerous to dogs.
2. Onions. It scared Sis when she saw this, because we've had little bitty scraps of onion before. Onions and garlic can damage red blood cells in doggies.
3. Avocado. How can a little guacamole hurt a dog? It most definitely can. Avocados contain a chemical called persin, which can upset a dog's stomach. The leaves and stems of the avocado plant are harmful as well, so if you have a little plant eater doggie in the family, keep those out of reach.
4. Alcoholic Beverages. Alcohol can have the same effects on dogs as humans, but large quantities of the stuff can set dogs into difficulty breathing, comas, or even death.
5. Ice Cream. As much as your dog would love to lap up this frozen treat on a hot summer day, it can be harmful. Like humans, most dogs are lactose intolerant. Additionally, ice cream has a lot of sugar, and too much sugar in a dog can lead to obesity.
6. Chocolate. Yes, it's very true that chocolate can be deadly to a dog. Milk chocolate isn't a huge threat because it doesn't have a lot of cocoa in it. Dark chocolate is the real concern. It can cause seizures, abnormal breathing, or even death.
7. Grapes. Grapes seem harmless, right? Wrong. Grapes, especially the skin, are deadly to dogs.
8. Macadamia Nuts. All nuts in general aren't the best for dogs, but especially macadamia nuts. Though they may seem like a harmless little snack, they're one of the most dangerous foods out there for dogs.
Pretty surprising, right? We doggies want to live a long, healthy life so please, make sure you're careful about the food scraps on the floor or what's in your little fur-ball's food.
One more thing: We recently found this amazing website called canigivemydog.com. Just enter whatever human food or medicine into the search box and it will tell you if it's edible to dogs and why! It's so cool and helpful! Click here to check it out!
We hope this helps you to protect your dog as well as possible!
